When God Says No

Genesis 17:15-22 06/22/08
God has a plan for your life. Ephesians says that believers have been, “Predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will.” We are predestined to live in heaven forever. We also know that everything that happens in this life is foreordained by God. The Shorter Catechism states that God, for His own glory, foreordains whatsoever comes to pass. That thought alone gives significance to your life as a Christian. But the truth is, our lives can often be rather mundane. Though we know what the Bible says, it can often seem that God does not have a glorious plan but a boring plan for our lives. We want our lives to make a difference for God and yet much of life involves doing such things as working, taking care of our families, and going through the routines of life. We need to be assured that God does have a plan for our lives – that our lives do have purpose and eternal significance. As we study this passage today, we will gain confidence in the purpose and plan of God for our lives.
